Twelve students from both the North Mankato and Faribault South Central College campuses participated in the National Leadership Conference of Business Professionals of America (BPA) in Anaheim, CA, May 1 - 5. Leslie Mesta (from Faribault) placed second in the Advanced Accounting competition. April Razo (from Faribault) placed third in the Business Law and Ethics competition. The team of Elijah Hastings (from Coon Rapids), Austin Oropeza (from St. James) and Abby Cherney (from Mankato) placed third in the Video Production event.

The students participating in the National Conference qualified for their respective competitions through a state level competition against other Minnesota colleges.

The National Leadership Conference is a culmination of the hard work and effort put in by members throughout the year. It brings students from across the country together to participate, network and compete. Activities included general sessions with keynote speakers, business meetings, leadership workshops, contests, election of national officers and tours of Anaheim sights and attractions.

In addition to conference activities, BPA students were active with community service projects in both North Mankato and Faribault this past academic year with leaf raking activities, highway cleanup, and Toys for Tots volunteering. Students also engaged in fundraising to contribute toward the cost of their conference participation.
